When Failure Isn't An Option
They thought my presentation was going to be terrible as I went to the front of the room. I could see it on their faces. And after I delivered the first couple of minutes of my talk, I knew they were right. They were dead right, it was awful!
I had had no training; I had no idea what I was doing and I had just hoped it would be okay. It was a major fail – really really embarrassing.
Pretty obviously, just hoping a talk will be okay doesn’t cut it for most people – when you are giving a presentation – some training will make all the difference.
When you give a presentation you can’t afford to look incompetent, you need to sell yourself to your audience.

Learning presentation skills doesn’t have to be hard, in fact it can be a lot of fun, particularly if you do it the easy way at Northrise Toastmasters.
At fortnightly meetings you can become a confident public speaker using internationally recognised training in a positive friendly setting.
After I joined Northrise Toastmasters I spoke in front of the same group again. The looks on their faces said they were expecting another big debacle.
Thanks to my preparation I gave a well-structured presentation and I delivered it confidently, using all the essential skills that training makes available.
They couldn’t believe the improvement – they all congratulated me on a job well done!
